wish you were here...
3:51 a.m.

i am having a wonderful weekend!

last night rob and i went to the percussion ensemble show. i met his friend lynn from school, cool lady.

the first half of the show was varied...varese's famous ionisation (1931) which featured a borrowed hand-crank fire station siren, one of a very few in the country, rob said. varese was a BIG influence on zappa.

there was a great piece called quiet which had choreography kind of like "stomp"...it was a student's thesis. this is blurry, but it looks cool...

the first half ended with two west african pieces...the instructor had been to ghana last year and brought back several instruments...this was the real shit! great stuff...

the second half was all steel drum music, which i enjoyed more than i thought i would. it was loud! there were a couple dozen of those things on stage, all sizes. some of the melodies were a bit...cute...but some of the selections were so energetic and wild, it was a good mix. here's a close up of some of the players... that's the instructor in the middle...

all in all, a great night!

today i walked a lot, and dropped by the rx and hung out for a bit...coffee and candy. the boys were checking out the cunnilingus article from the hsu paper...hehehe!

tonight, rob and i went to "art's alive!" downtown. we dropped in at the piante gallery that my friend jo runs. there was a great show there by eric fidjeland...
click on that to go to his site...he does beautiful watercolors. his artist's statement was brilliant, i'm gonna try to get a copy and post it here. and one of his pieces was called "you're in my blood like holy wine (You taste so bitter and so sweet)" which is from joni mitchell's "a case of you"! wow! i wanted to say hi, but he was pretty much surrounded by well-wishers...i was a bit shy, i always thought he was a cutie, haha! i think he might be a catdaddy, too.

the picture of the lemons was sold, and this one with poppy seed pods that i really dug was like $750, so...ha! i went home empty handed!

we also saw a cool show at 3-2-1, and then went to the graves museum. (click that link, lots of info there) good stuff there, too. saw some old friends and caught up on stuff...took pictures from upstairs...

THAT'S not an angle you see often.

saw dr. irvine there, i'm always tempted to say to someone "psst...see that guy with the beard? he stuck his finger up my ass!"

hmmmm, well, it wasn't a DATE, you know!

oh, did you know i'm a part-time fashion model? it's true...

i actually was late to rob's tonight cuz i was primping
and deciding what to wear...i feel skinny, but i've got a long way to my goal. but it's nice to feel good about yourself...myself...whatev.

tried to message steve tonight around midnight, but he was...busy. he's all through with classes, so, it's finals and then graduation. he can't wait to get out of kent! love ya, boy, as always.

oh, and i had some fun at AWC tonight...a nice englishman...a little attention is what i needed, i guess. and curious straight boys in the men's room, as usual.

ok, it's bloody late here...gonna work on garden prep tomorrow...and i borrowed an electric hedge trimmer to get that thing tidied up...probably post some pictures of THAT, oh boy, exciting, huh?

alright, time for bed.

love ya's,

- m.
