ok, i'd better talk about the slits show before it gets too old...there's some show pics in the previous entry in case you missed 'em.
i got to synapsis around 9. there were some cops outside talking to the people putting on the show... one girl told them that there was NO alchohol inside...the cop said "that's amazing." i dunno, they had some noise complaints or something.
it was cool and funky inside. the room where the bands were playing was pretty small, like a 3 car garage, i'd say.
saw bandon there, his wife's band played first, before i got there. they had little nico there, they couldn't get a baby sitter.
eureka garbage company played next, they were interesting. lots of odd time signatures, tricky stuff. loked like all their freinds were right up front. they played maybe a half hour. after that i went outside for a bit, then hung out in the front lounge area with bandon...had a nice chat. nico was in his spiderman costume. damn, he's not a baby anymore, that was fast!
saw lucy, met some of her friends.
next up was this cool band called dmonstrations. a trio. japanese guy on guitar and vocals. and the most intense drummer i've ever seen. he looked like he was going out for a run, tank top and shorts. god, he was good. kinda hot too :) they only played about 20 minutes, but man, i really liked them. loud, intense..i can't really describe what they were doing. thety have a myspace, check em out, it's wild.
they are coming back from oregon and playing in arcata in a few days, i might go see them again, take some more pics and vids.
my vids didn't turn out so hot, the lighitng really sucked. well they were dark on my pc and they're even darker on youtube...oh well.
the slits were amazing. i wish i knew their songs better. i was kinda shy and hanging back at first, but after a while i got into the crowd...having a camera helps. it got pretty rowdy for a bit, and then it calmed down some. eventually i was right up front. the stage was very low, like a foot, haha! i would guess the crowd was maybe 150 people tops. it's kinda fun to be all jammed together with a bunch of people...that was fun at the x show too. at times i think, ok, am i too old for this? but shit, the original members of the slits that are left are about my age....some of the newer members are kids in comparison. one of the young guitarists was sooo cute...dreads, looked like early 20's.
ari up is quite a fun frontwoman...those big curly dreads, that german accent...remember, johnny rotten is her step father! that's so funny to think about.
this kinda stoned punkette next to me gave me her email, she wanted some pictures...we were trying to talk while the band was playing...she said she bet that she was older than me....she looked like mid-20's...i told her i was 49, she was shocked...but yeah, stoned too! i must look good in the dark :)
so yeah, a great evening, a little bit of history experienced, 30 years on....sigh.
got home a little after 1:30...came home and edited some pics, duh!

another long long chat with steve last night, very good stuff. 3 and a half hours! we don't have any agendas or time frames in which to meet, uhh, goals. i said i just want to see where it goes...he said it was nice to talk to someone intellegent, who got his jokes :) i reminded him i owe him a neck rub and that he needs to come back up and play with my pussy some more! wrote him a follow up letter before i went to bed.
i really feel relaxed about him. very relaxed. i think some nice movie nights here would be...fun. and get THIS: i must have been having a good time, i totally forgot top chef was on at ten! caught most of the repeat at 11, though.
