dinner and other stuff
8:21 p.m.
mmmm, dinner last night with doug and griselda was great...we went to abruzzi's but didn't have reservations, so there was gonna be a 50 minute wait...we went upstairs to the plaza grill instead.
aww, ain't they cute? i guess them getting together was le petite scandale, as she was a student of his, she was married at the time (doug had nothing to do with the subsequent divorce proceedings), AND she's half his age...oh you know i have no problemo with that! she's from mexico and is bee-yoo-ti-ful!
looks like the end of a long night of drunken debauchery, doesn't it?
they had ribs, and i had a ribeye steak with a whiskey mushroom peppercorn sauce. it was goooood! was fun catching up...doug might go to the new york dolls show with me, he would certainly appreciate it, we share a lot of roots that go way back.
after dinner we walked around a bit...

i was home by 9:30, it was a quick visit, but it's always great to see doug.
speaking of the dolls show, lisa called me today at work, cuz i left her a message when i got my ticket...i said "when i say i'm in love, you best believe i'm in love, l-u-v!" that's the opening line from "looking for a kiss"...she loved that...she asked where i was staying, then she called me back...and so she's staying at the triton too...she said maybe we could go down together, but i said i might go down on saturday...i lied...i don't think i could handle 5 hrs. each way with her, she's pretty intense...she reminds me of that fran leibowitz line "the opposite of talking isn't listening, it's waiting."
she's already got her outfit for the show picked out...look, i just want ONE picture of me and david johansen, ok? god, her, me, and doug...that's gonna be a riot!
i want to go to mervyn's and find some kind of metallic gold shirt or something, and go down to ferndale and get a cool fedora. i have a look in mind.
oh, and doug paid for dinner, that was so nice...and today matty took our orders at work for late breakfast/early lunch stuff and went to winco and picked it up...and PAID for it, too! that was sweet! i got turkey wraps and still have a chicken salad for tomorrow.
lots of free food lately at work, donuts, cake (andrea's byebye) tomatoes from bev's garden...LOTS of tomatoes! and i snack on ripe blackberries i pick when i'm walking...and there's several apple and pear trees around with branches hanging over fences, the pears aren't ripe yet, but...soon.
had a long talk with steve last night, he was pretty down...and he said the nicest thing about me in his diary today HERE...in two weeks we'll be in s.f. i'm looking into where to rent bikes for golden gate park, that would be fun.
and please please PLEASE, go look at THIS entry from phu...that boy is too much! just look at the title of the entry, you'll be laughing all the way till the end, i promise!
two days in a row i've picked up what i THINK are seagull feathers i spotted on the ground while walking...one is pretty big.
i wonder if THAT means anything?

last night before dinner i was on awc, talking to my crew...i went and took a shower, came back in here, toweled off and got dressed...deodorant, cologne, socks, pants, shirt, shoes... i had quite an audience, that was kind of different! they said i looked pretty sharp!
i clean up pretty good, when i want to.
oh, i wonder, should i buy some carhartt jeans?
i KNOW my ass ain't gonna look THAT good...HA!
