"ok , weirdness...i just clicked on some chick's myspace, she was your latest comment..she had leon russell in her top 8, i go to his page, HIS latest comment is from the sequoia humane society, which is HERE! they are having that woofstock thing again, down at the waterfront. its like a contest, sorta a dog beauty pagent thing..and leon is playing a free concert there on sun afternoon!
which is interesting, as i was looking at the doll's page tonight, their new guitarist left a comment on there, that US dates would be announced soon,..went to his page and there they were...san fran in november, funny, it wasn't on the doll's page yet.
they're playing at the independent, its a new club on divisidero, but it's been many clubs over the years..i'm real sure that was once THE VIZ club, which is where i played with brian and julie in...'86, maybe? i sat at a card table on stage and loaded various tape loops into a cassette player...and made 100 bucks!
anyhoo, ok, this is starting to ramble....but i went to the independent site, tix aren't on sale till sunday morning. i think i'll pass, it would be fun to see the dolls again, especially in a small place, but i bet tix will go right away. plus it's on a wednesday.
i wonder why they're playing such a small place, the fillmore 2 years ago was fine with me. maybe it's a warm up thing. it's a package tour with supersuckers and another band..little steven is "presenting" it...part of his garage band thing...i NEVER thought of the dolls as "garage"...
but anyway, leon is playing there a few days after he's here. lee scratch perry is playing soon at the independent too, as are the knitters in few weeks, but i don't think i'll make that either, much as i'd like to see 'em.
and that boy that wants to shave my head, haha, he lives like a block away at fell and diviz, right by the panhandle...
so...i guess i'll go check out leon on sunday. take some pics....there was a period of a few years..71-75 maybe, he really meant a lot to me. he was pretty big there for a while. there's some great shit on some of those records.

i've been torn on this all day.
on one hand, the smaller venue could be cool. i saw concert pics from the independent, looks like a low stage...hmm, good photo opportunites.
the thing is, the show in '04 was such a perfect evening. doug and leesa were with me. remember, i got too stoned in chinatown with her??? ooh, but that little toke or two in her room after the show, that was the best high.
the band will be coming off a month in europe. they might be tired. if the show wasn't great, that would suck. if it IS great, well...great. but if i miss a great show, i still have the one two years ago...that really WAS one of the best experiences of my life. and i already have over 100 great pics from that show.
and yeah, a wednesday. i could manage that. doug will be working, so will sheila. leesa's in L.A. now.
hmm, then there's aaron or al, but i'd rather meet up with one or both of them and hang out, dinner etc. i left a message with al, he wrote back that he's been to the independent, so maybe i can get some info from him.
shit, i could be in LOVE by november, you never know!
so...i kinda think i'm gonna pass. we'll see how i feel sunday morning.
i'm gonna go ask dennis, i told him they're coming to paris in october. he's a bit afraid to get the new album, as he saw them several times in the 70's.
but i think i want to keep the great memories of the show i saw....
anyway....hmmm.
so, yeah, leon russell at the waterfront on sunday afternoon, haha! and sunday night, dinner at the japanese place downtown, they do that cooking-at-your-table thing...it's a belated 21st birthday thing for matt...my little boy's all grown up!
i still plan on going to SF in november, though.
