hmm, ok, it's been almost a week. sorry 'bout dat.
been doing a lot of research online, art, etc.
doing my yearly william gibson re-reading... idoru, all tomorrows parties and now i'm reading virtual light.
gibson shares parts of the new book he's working on at his site, that's pretty cool.
cooper went for 2 of my ideas for blog days over there, favorite cooper lines from his books, and favorite album covers. it's so much fun over there, what great people.
he was teasing me today:
" Michael, So that's how you get all those boys to do cam stuff with you, i.e., You: "Dude, remember when Jay and Silent Bob said ... ?" Them: "You like Jay and Silent Bob too? Cool, let's jack off." Is that your secret? Album cover day: Sure, why not? I'll put it near the front of the cue, and we'll see what happens."

next year there's going to be readings of the userlands book he edited, the one that people from his blog sent him fiction for. there's gonna be one in SF, so, i might be meeting cooper in march...amazing!
speaking of boys....this whole foley thing...
now, i avoid politics like the plague, but just a few thoughts...
how typical that he's one of the people who pushed all that protect-kids-from-online-predators legislation...one article i saw said that with that under his belt he knew exactly what he could get away with.
i mean, that's BEYOND ironic.
i've read the emails, IM'S etc...yes it's inappropriate stuff. why are those guys so stupid...being public figures and all? it just amazes me.
i mean, THAT'S why i don't vote. two faced lying hypocrites. they all don't get caught, is all.
but all that stuff, the pages, getting involved with older men...that's a VERY old story. i read some stuff from a guy who was a page when he was younger...that shit goes on all the time. seduction, etc works both ways.
and how interesting that the age of consent in DC is 16...who passed THAT?
and you know..."i'm an alcoholic, i was abused by a priest..." i read today that a former therapist of foley's hadn't heard any of that stuff...whatev.
but so far, it doesn't sound like foley actually fucked any of those boys, but who knows what's gonna come out next...
and at the risk of sounding like a hypocrite myself, re: what cooper said up there... i don't interact with guys under 18 online, ok?
called steve today, left a message on his cell. he called right back, he was at the mall, observing people for his psych class. he was speaking japanese at first and how cute is THAT? if he gets his paper done he's gonna come up saturday night and do arts alive with me :) did i tell you he showed me his youtube vid his son made of him canning tomatoes? oh, and ricky knows him too, met him at triad michael's b-day party...said he seemed very "grounded".
mmmhmmm...
when we had lunch last week, and were talking about japanese culture, i started to ask him if he knew about those vending machines in japan where you can buy teenage girl's used panties and he practically finished my sentence...and later we were talking about something we both find kind of distasteful, fags who call themselves "straight-acting". steve said, well when you're down on your knees with a dick in your mouth, how "straight" is that?
