ummmm...darn!
9:18 p.m.
ok, i'm home from arts alive.
didn't win anything, but shit, i got in the graves museum first time out, and the show will be up for six weeks, i really can't complain about that!
here's a quick rundown and then some pics.
steve couldn't make it, he's gotta finish his paper and he has some online assignments too...
so i headed downtown at 6. the show looked great, all the lights were on. the junk art show was great too. and some wonderful kid's art downstairs. cool stuff in the sculpture garden.
saw muriel, showed her my pic, that was fun. didn't really see anyone to say hi to, though a few familiar faces were around. they don't know me if i'm not in my work drag!
saw some damn cute art-fag boys runnin' around. i was upstairs when they were announcing the winners, i could hardly hear, so i ran downstairs. i almost thought i heard my name called for best of show, but it was someone else, that was weird.
walked down to eric's show at piante, real nice stuff. watercolors. david boston had a photo show in the second gallery, he didn't even mention that last week. pretty nature stuff, but not really my thing. eric told me recently piante might be closing next year, damn, i'd love to get something in there.
talked to eric for a sec, met his sister and dad. it was crowded, didn't take any pics there. i'm gonna go down some afternoon and take a closer look.
avalon was full...it looks so nice in there, i've never had dinner there....hmmm. told steve today maybe we can do japanese some night, would like to go back where we had matty's b-day thing.
saw some hippies doing hippie songs in a tent in front of the new performing arts center, which should be open soon i think. they're tearing up that old parking lot across the street, that was a surprise.
walked back to the car, popped into the museum again for a sec, to see if anyone i knew was around...nope. took a few more pics and headed home.
stopped by BK, picked up something to console my LOSER ass, haha!

the pic on the left won first place. the guy used to be one of the judge's students! whatever! it was ok, but i thought the big black and white would win first or best of show.

ok, well. not a bad night. i'm gonna join the arts council for sure, and submit a few things for the december show. and get more stuff printed and framed, get some cd's to hand out to the coffee houses, etc... i think i've got the bug now, it was pretty cool seeing my picture in that setting tonight, with so many people around. hell, maybe someone will BUY the damn thing!
