the hand of fate (email to rob)
10:14 p.m.

wow, good timing, i just woke up from a nap.

yes, fate...or whatever... like that movie sliding doors, i never saw it, but it shows two parallel worlds, what would have happened if you did this instead of that..

sometimes i wonder about that...what if i HAD gone to that party?
or if i had worked that day instead of having it off...
what if i turned left instead of right?
would that certain someone had been there for me to meet?

look at how steve and lora met...if either one of them had left the house 5 minutes later...or lingered over deciding which paper towels to buy, they would have never met.

and now they're gonna get married!

life is just that simple sometimes.

called phone company about my line. they said unplug everything for 5 minutes and then try it. i called lora and left a message for her to leave a message to test it. i was asleep, but it just recorded static. so i guess i have to wait till xmas eve to get it fixed!

i called lora earlier, tried out the headset. she said it sounded fine. i was sitting here like the time-life operator!

too bad i don't really have those 3-hour talks with alan in nyc any more...it's really comfy not having to hold the receiver.

funny moment last night: patrick was there, and i introduced him to debbie. i said "and you know patrick..." but i guess she wasn't sure...cuz she whispered to me a bit too loudly, "isn't that lora's old boyfriend?" i said yeah...he was right next to us, but i don't think he heard. and his friend sal was there, of course. the three of us talked about jackass, osbournes, south park... "boy talk"...while the "adults" talked about whatever they talk about.

sal's still a pretty big boy, but i've always found him attractive...a big mexican boy with the face of a cherub...

more truck trouble...

it's been running a bit ragged since i put the cheaper gas in it. keep stalling at stop signs. so i had to really rev it up. when i stopped to pay my phone bill at shaffer's (which they DON'T do, by the way), the truck was smoking a bit, but seemed fine when i got back in the truck. so i went to the p.o. anyway...by then the temp guage was high! so i sat in the truck, in the rain, no umbrella...thinking "i've really got to get rid of this thing...". it cooled off and i got home, looked under the hood...something's come loose...some tube that attaches to the thing, the... vent...that comes off the air filter cover. the end of the tube is all ragged looking.

as much as i hate to do it, i think it's back to sears...

and i smelled burning oil or something...the guage was low. but what would oil have to do with the air filter?

I HATE CARS.

going around to look for something new is such a pain to me...do i wanna get tied down for 5 years paying off a new (used) car? pretty soon i won't have a choice, the rust situation is getting really bad. and if i wait much longer it won't be worth anything.

clare's postcard from london came today! her handwriting is just like i knew it would be...it's..."her". she has a great pic of herself in her new entry...

and did i tell you when you were here that dan's working at shaffer's?

sorry this is so long...halfway through it started to sound like a diary entry, so i kept going!

think i'll go post it...

think i finally got the rest i needed, but i hope i'm not gonna be up all night now...

ok, later. - m
