technology sucks!

many thanks to those of you who sent birthday greetings to sheila...she was very touched by the whole thing.
i might not be online too much over the next several days...i'm having some internet connection problems, i think it's my modem. i've been on the phone with tech support...they've had me doing some things like take down the firewall and unplugging the modem and then plugging it back in. that seems to work for a bit, but all of a sudden my connection goes down again. someone's gonna come out to the house on friday, we'll see if i can limp along till then.

this has been an interesting week. rob was here for 5 days looking for a place to live. he came down sunday and we drove around looking for available apartments. the first place we spotted on sunday turned out to be the place that he got the keys to on friday! in between those days rob was running all over town...there were only two good leads, cuz lots of the places listed on the websites aren't ready to rent yet. waiting lists, unreturned phone calls, "no cats", rob was getting pretty frustraited, but it all turned out ok. i hope he'll write his account of the past week in his diary...he's at sweetsci...
maybe next week i'll write more about the past several days...it was fun, the cat loves rob, and we didn't get on each other's nerves! i'm not really used to having someone staying here, but it helps when it's someone you can really talk to...but the whole week was kind of a blur, and rob was really under the gun cuz school starts soon... and not hearing back from these property management places really put rob in a kind of limbo for a few days...but his new place is really cool and it's gonna be GREAT to have him back in town...i won't feel like such an alien...there's no one around to discuss cool stuff with...
ok, i'd better get out of here before i lose my connection AND this entry. i'll be back as soon as i can.
