punk sunday
2:46 p.m.

third day of vacation...haven't done much...

went to borders with rob yesterday...bought two books, lexicon devil and we've got the neutron bomb, so i'm gonna have an l.a. punk rock weekend.

i saw in some diary someone talking about "old-school punk"...from the LATE 80's!

neutron bomb is a great oral history...i wanna show you the last two quotes...

exene cervenka:

"i'm very unaware of my own age or place in life. i'm very present-tense-oriented. so for me it's like, "what are your goals?...what do you hope to achieve?" and now they're asking, "what did you think would happen? give us your whole overview of the past and what do you think will happen in the future." which to me is just not interesting...i just kind of go along."

hellin killer:

"i got married, had kids, and kind of stepped out of it. i made a conscious decision...one day i said, "this isn't what it used to be anymore." i'm going through the motions of trying to hang out and i think i'm beating a dead horse...i'm just not into smashing windows anymore."

it's gonna be a great book...

borders was crowded, full of pretty boys and girls...it just depresses me.

there was a band playing in borders, acoustic guitars and harmonica...boring stuff. sounded like music to buy books by. i thought the p.a. sounded great, but rob, being all tech-geeky, thought it was muddy. i dunno, he hears things much better than me i guess, what with spending all that time under the headphones. i thought the guitar was clear, and as we were getting in the car rob said that the martin guitar sounded bad...like i could pick out the type of guitar...ha! but he knows what he's talking about, right? i always say, well, some people don't know the difference between arugula and escarole...can you IMAGINE?

in fact, music-boy is up in oregon, buying some microphones...i'm gonna walk over and check on his pussies. maybe i'll take one of my books and lay on the couch and read...see if chia will cuddle up with me like she did before. she'll probably think daddy's gonna be gone for several days when she sees me...

well, i may not know microphones, but i DO have one of these...

it's the "first chair" designed by michele de lucchi for the memphis milano group in the 80's...you know, memphis..founded by ettore sottsass...oh, but YOU know that, EVERYONE knows that.

HA

HA

HA!

just being a snob...

ok, gotta go see the cats...buddy never smells strange pussy on me when i get back from rob's...i wonder why?

later, michael
