welcome to randomville...
1:03 a.m.

some quotes that have caught my eye (AND brain) recently:

"openess, i can remember openess, what it's like to be a little kid and everything, but let's face it, remembering is not the same thing as being." - neil young, from the book shakey.

"how do i get back to who i was, or who i used to think i was? that boy - productive, energetic, unburdened?" - david leavitt, "saturn street" from the book arkansas.

(anyone out there read "the term paper artist" from that book? or while england sleeps? TALK to me, please!)

"hindsight...it never happens like that when it's going on, because times are moving so fast, you don't have time to step back and take a view". - joe strummer, from the film westway to the world.

"we did our job, and that's the story. and now we're gone, and that's it. that suits me fine." - paul simonon, same as above.

"no youthful flesh weighs down your youth.
you are eternal, infinite,
you are the unknown, and the truth."
- from a poem by e.m. forster.

here's something from an email i sent someone a few weeks ago:

"well, you're up late...me too. gonna go to bed soon. too much coffee. i have lots of ideas...what does that mean?

working on a plan for a poem...instead of just spitting one out, gonna work on it hard...the premise...using terms from maps...explorers...the sea...in describing the act of exploring someone's body....gonna make lists of words first that i want to use, its been in my head for days...

"these uncharted territories bear landmarks as yet unnamed...new lands claimed by whispered lips run aground upon the shoals and shallows...rivers of bone and currents of blood flowing just beneath the surface..."

shit like that. i can be very lucid when i'm this exausted."

haha, i asked a friend how gay he thought i acted...on a scale of 1 to 10...he said i was maybe a 5 or 6....hmmm. at first i thought "no way!" but then i looked at it like this...if we say bruce springsteen is a 1, and if

christopher lowell
is a 10, then ok, i can live with that.

christopher lowell! oh god, he makes those boys on queer eye look like the green berets!

this same friend is trying to turn me into a broadway boy by sending me 7-minute video clips from chicago at 3 in the morning....oh, it was good, but i TOLD him i have punk rock flowing through my veins!

"youre not a dork, ok?"

"haha! thanks."

"i mean it, and i'm trying to say it without sounding too creepy.."

"not at all creepy. And thank you."

"but you a fine lookin' boy, ok?"

"haha! you need new glasses already!"

one more quote:

"Warning sign, warning sign,
I see it but I pay it no mind.
Hear my voice, hear my voice,
It's saying something
and I hope you're concentrating
I've got money now,
I've got money now,
C'mon baby,
C'mon baby."

- talking heads, "warning sign"

i was and shall REMAIN a good boy. i made that
decision a long time ago, ok?
